Coaching Showcase
This page has been developed to showcase some of the work that I accomplished during my tenure at Michigan State University and its Masters of Arts in Education Program. Coaching and learning about different coaching pedagogies is a vital factor to who I am today. I have been a coach for swimming and diving for 11 years and have always enjoyed studying physical motor skills, athlete psychology, and what motivates an athlete to do their best. I truly hope you find some of the works listed below helpful and insightful. Enjoy!

The following are examples of work completed for the coaching emphasis that can be viewed as a pdf file.
This artifacts below are wonderful examples that I worked on in KIN 856. The first work example focused on injury prevention and strength conditioning exercises built towards swimmers that I currently coach. The second pdf file was an assignment that I completed for my swimmers that dealt with dynamic exercise warm-ups. This particular example describes what each dynamic is, explains how to perform the skills correctly, and describes in detail the muscles used during the warm-up exercises.

The examples of work below are ones that have been used for my KIN 855 class. The first listed below is a wonderful example of a practice breakdown that I had to do for my sport of swimming and diving. It is vital that coaches break practices down into skills, game-like scenarios, and goals in order to facilitate better athletic/movement development. The class and coaching emphasis in this section reiterates the importance of practice breakdowns and the skills that go along with it. Also attached you will find an example of a physical breakdown of a combination of a few individual skills. The example demonstrates the complexity when trying to construct and diagram a skill with multiple variations whether it be from the athletes size, athletes strength, or the environment in which the athlete participates.

The following examples are from KIN 854 Legal Issues of Coaching. The class challenged coaches, athletic administration, and anyone involved in athletics to think about the risks and legal responsibilities that they inherit when participating in sport or observing a sport at an athletic contest. The class alerted me as a coach to legal issues such as breaches of duty, negligence lawsuits, and how to properly inspect athletic facilities before, during, and after an athletic event. In this first example you will find a artifact of work that deals with response to a negligence scenario. The artifact details some legal requirements that an individual should act on in order to prevent them against various lawsuits. The second piece of work deals in specific with the legal responsibilities of an Athletic Director. The work details what steps an Athletic Director should accomplish in a given sports year such as filed inspection, end of year transitions from one sport to another, and simple checking of emergency action plans.
